Rebates for Individuals

Only organizations (including B.C. businesses with a valid business license, non-profit organizations, and public sector organizations may apply for cargo e-bike rebates.

Cargo e-bikes must have a minimum 125 litre cargo volume capacity and a minimum 130 kg weight capacity as defined below:

• Only designated cargo-style e-bikes can apply for inclusion in the program.
• Minimum transport volume shall be calculated by multiplying the flatbed load area by the maximum acceptable load height. If specific cargo boxes exist for the e-bike, their volume may be used instead.
• Load area is the available non-overhanging flat-bed cargo area and should be calculated to exclude attachment points.
• For e-bikes with transport boxes or load beds ahead of the rider (e.g. “Long-John” models) the acceptable maximum load height shall be that of the handlebars, unless defined otherwise by the manufacturer.
• For e-bikes with open transport beds or boxes positioned behind the rider, maximum acceptable load height shall be taken as the sum of the length and width of the available load bed area. When the open transport bed or box is positioned on a rear-rack, mounted on top of the rear wheel, the maximum acceptable load height shall be the difference between the load bed floor and the handlebar height.
• For “long tail’ or similar two-wheel e-bikes where loads may largely be carried to the side of the structure, rather than on a flat bed, the effective load bed width shall be taken as 80 cm when calculating load area.
• Weight capacity means weight of rider plus weight of luggage. If only a specification for luggage weight is available, this must be at least 50 kg. Where luggage capabilities are provided by the installation of after-market racks and baskets, the weight capacity of said after-market attachments must be greater than 50 kg.

Fleets (organizations including businesses, non-profits and public sector organizations) may apply for rebates on eligible zero-emission all-terrain vehicles, off-road side-by-side vehicles, snowmobiles and more.

If the vehicle is a utility vehicle, it must be defined as follows to be eligible:

• Is a prescribed class of off-road vehicle as described in the Off Road Vehicle Regulation, B.C. Reg. 193/2015 with the exclusion of the “on-highway motor vehicle” definition. This includes all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, off-road side-by-side vehicles, and snowmobiles; or
• Is a small marine vessel as regulated in the Small Vessel Regulations SOR/2010-91
